I have been directed by a support representative to disable the Windows Firewall. How to I accomplish this?

Windows XP:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. On the General tab, click Off (not recommended).

  3. Click OK.
Windows Vista / 7:
  1. Click Start, type Firewall.cpl in the field at the bottom of the menu, and then hit enter.

  2. On the left side of the window, there is a link that says "Turn Windows Firewall On or Off", click that.

  3. Select "Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended)" on all sections, and click OK.
